Aleck Wilson went to the Filhiol Baptist Church, on the DeSiard, Sunday night, armed with a pistol, and called Reuben Leonard out. Reuben, coming out, had gone some ten feet from the church door, when Wilson inquired, “Is that you, Reuben?” Reuben answered, yes, when Wilson leveled his pistol at him, as testified to by an eye-witness, and shot him in the right side, the ball entering the right lung. The wounded man, died Wednesday evening. An inquest was held by Dr. Murphy, Coroner, and a verdict found in accordance with this statement. Wilson escaped, but sheriff McGuire is in search of the murderer. Deceased and his slayer came from Kansas here, were thought to be friends, and were employed on Mr. H. Meyer’s Mason place. The murder was the result, it is said, of some trouble about women. # # #
