A colored woman living on Mr. Pettit’s plantation, by the name of Beri Brantley, met with a serious accident Monday morning. It is stated that while she was standing before the fire arranging something on the mantle piece a flame caught her clothing and very soon she was almost totally wrapped up in flames. Two other parties came to her rescue and managed to keep her from burning up at a severe cost to themselves. All parties are still confined to their beds.
