McGuire left Thursday for Little Rock armed with a requisition from Governor McEnery for one B.F. Thompson now in custody of the Arkansas authorities. Thompson is charged with murder, having killed a man by the name of W.J. Matthews on the 31st of March last, about two miles above here on a raft. Thompson and Matthews were raftsmen, both from Arkansas, and were taking their timber to New Orleans. They quarreled about a business matter which resulted in Thompson striking Matthews in the head with a hatchet. Matthews was subsequently carried back to Arkansas where he died from his injuries. Thompson will be brought here for trial. # # #
