 Last Wednesday, while the steamer H. Hanna Blanks was lying at the wharf
here her mate, Mr. Charles Henthorn, became involved in a difficulty with a
negro named Milton Smith and shot and killed him.  A preliminary examination
was held Thursday before Judge Richardson who released Henthorn under a bond
of $750 for his appearance at the next jury term of the District Court to
answer to a charge of manslaughter.
