            Joe Duncan, a negro laborer, was drowned at the wreck of the steamboat Sallie last 
Thursday night about 9 o'clock.  An effort was being made to raise the hull, and Joe, while 
stepping from one barge to another missed his footing and fell into the river between them, 
being drowned before assistance could reach him.
