            A colored man named Leak Farmer and a woman, also colored, named ------- were 
brought to town Monday night from the Island and placed in jail by deputy Sheriff Willis.  The 
two are charged with the murder of Farmer's wife on the Arthur Smith place, about fourteen 
miles north of this city, and it is claimed that the woman was Farmer's paramour and instigated 
the deed.
