Abbott Jack C. Abbott, 82, died Monday, May 3, at his Shawnee home. He was born March 31, 1922, in Luther. On Dec. 3, 1971, he married Shirley A. Tallman. He served in World War II and received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1984. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Abbott of Shawnee; brother, Kendall Abbott of Luther; sister-in-law, Harriett Abbott of North Carolina; brother-in- law and sister-in-law, Frank and Elaine Kjeldgaard of Encino, Calif., and many other relatives. Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church or Heartland Hospice of Shawnee. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Matthews officiating and assisted by Phil Thompson and Larry Goins. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park. Walker Funeral Service is directing arrangements.
