He was born on January 9, 1937 in Fort Necessity, Louisiana to Frank Edward Abbott and Anne Mae Thomas Abbott. Frank spent most of his life in Monroe, Louisiana. Early on he was a barber with Mr. Toni Russell at a small shop on Desiard. After ten years and two girls were born, he changed careers and worked in many different aspects of construction and land development around Monroe, building levees, leveling land for streets, and concrete work for many businesses that are going strong today. He was a member of the NorthsideRiding Club for many years and spent many Friday evenings trailering his girls to playdates. He loved animls, especially horses, dogs and sometimes goats! Frank and his girls had a place in the country where he would eventually live. He loved the country life and being outdoors, He was a sportsman who enjoyed deer hunting, duck hunting, fishing and raising livestock. He had a knack for naming his pets, his last horse was named "Bobby Stewart" after the man who gave him the horse. That gives some insight to his personality and the "simple" man he was. He retired from the construction business in 2009, leaving behind his favorite employess Lonzo Potter and Turk to find new opportunities. He became active in the West Monroe Baptist Church group to which he attented with his longtime friend, Mrs. Jesse Reeves, who was his dance partner as well on Friday night get togethers. Frank moved to Houston five years ago to be close to his daughter, Renea Abbott. He battled dementia in his last years, but was a fighter, never letting it get the best of him. He traveled to South America regularly with Martha Prudencio and her family, enjoyed our country place in Round Top, Texas on weekends where his last days were spent before returning to Houston. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank Edward Abbott and Anne Mae Abbott from Fort Necessity, Sister Annelle Abbott Renfrow from Monroe and daughter Joni Abbott who lived in New York City. He is survived by daughter, C. Renea Abbott and her husband, Greg Manteris from Houston, Texas; Daughter Hope Abbott Mamula from Quantico, Virgina and her husband Trey Mamula; Brother-in-law Orville Renfrow from Monroe, Louisiana, as well as many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held in the evening at 5 P.M. on Sunday February 28, 2016 at Bradshaw Carter in Houston. A graveside service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Fort Necessity on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 1 P.M. The family would like to thank Martha Prudencio, Cindy Saravia and Nashling Reyes for the loving care provided over the years and going beyond to make his life completely normal never missing a chance to go to the country, church, basketball games, Mexican food buffets or even the grocery store to be out and around people. He was a people person and never met a stranger. Lastly, I would like to thank Dr. Phong Nguyen for caring for dad while he was in Houston. At the end of his life, he was not on any medications but passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest, short and sweet like the person he was.
