Mrs. Abide, reared in Monroe, Louisiana, became a resident of Greenville upon her marriage to Paul Edward Abide, Sr. in 1950. She was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Prior to retirement, she enjoyed various activities with her church and family, especially golf, cooking and traveling. After retirement, she devoted her life to prayer. Mrs. Abide was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and she is survived by her seven children, Samera Abide, Bill (Rosie) Abide, Dr. Paul Abide, Jr., Dr. Andrew (Cindy) Abide, Dr. Bonda Abide, George (Angela) Abide and Paulette Abide; a sister, Louise Elias Mansour; 14 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, February 28, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by a rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in Greenville Cemetery. Mortimer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flower, donations may be made to the Paul Edward Abide, Sr. Trust Fund that supports St. Joseph Catholic Schools, c/o St. Joseph School, 1501 V.F.W. Road, Greenville, MS 38701.
