She was born April 27, 1926 in Camden, AR, and was a graduate of Camden High School. She graduated from the University of Arkansas where she received a BS degree in business. At the University she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Forty years of her married life were spent in Natchez, MS where she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Natchez and the Natchez Garden Club. Upon the death of her husband, Charles in 1996 she moved back to Camden. Mary Helen was a charter member of the Tate's Bluff Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Adams, her parents, Dr. Samuel D. McGill and Helen Watts McGill, and a brother, Samuel D. McGill, Jr. Mary Helen is survived by two daughters, Susan Fordham and her husband, Jimmy of Monroe, LA, and Kathy Welch and her husband, James of Camden, AR, and four grandchildren; Melissa Davis and husband, Greg of Greenville, SC, Laura Andrews and husband, Zechariah of Prentiss, MS, Jennifer Welch and fiancée, Tyler Miller both of Waco, TX, and Andrew Welch and fiancée, Bre Smith, both of Camden, AR. She is also survived by a sister, Josephine McGill and a brother, Thomas McGill both of Camden, AR; numerous cousins, and a loving caregiver and friend, Mrs. Lorene Sanders. The family will receive friends Monday night, at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, AR from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Nevada County, AR, at 9:00 A.M. followed by a memorial service at Proctor Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Norman Bryant and Bro. Don Phillips. Pallbearers will be James Welch, Jimmy Fordham, Greg Davis, Zechariah Andrews, Andrew Welch, and Tyler Miller. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Camden or to the charity of your choice.
