L. " LAVELLE" ADKINS Riser Funeral Home Columbia, La. Funeral services for C. L." Lavelle" Adkins age 81 of Grayson will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday March 10, 2009 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Monday March 9 from 4:00 PM to 8PM at the funeral home. Lavelle Adkins was born December 26, 1927 at Grayson, LA and passed from this life on Sat. March 7, 2009 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. Lavelle owned and operated Adkins Logging for many years and was a lifelong resident of Caldwell Parish and had been active in community leadership throughout his life. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Adkins, three sons Terry, Charles Ray, and Kenneth. He was also preceded in death by his father and step mother: Chris and Ila Mae Adkins, and by two brother's Virgil Adkins and Billy Adkins. Survivors include: Daughter in law-Cherry Adkins of Grayson; six grandchildren, Jerry Adkins and wife Shondra of Grayson, Jessica Anderson and husband Shane of Pineville, Christy Adkins of Grayson, Mason Adkins of Grayson, Adelia Grayson and husband Hugh of Grayson, and Brooks Adkins and wife Jennifer of Bosco; and eleven great grand children: two sisters, Linda Shumaker and husband Jeff of Grayson, and Sheila Laffoon and husband Shannon of Clark; two Brothers, Gary Adkins and wife Grace of Columbia, and Larry Adkins and wife Cheryl of Grayson. Pallbearers will be Ricky Ray, David Key, David King, Joe Cubbitt, Craig McMullen, and Hugh Grayson. In lieu of flowers any planned memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
