Funeral services for Mr. Curtis Gray Allen, age 65, of Downsville, will be 2:00 PM pm Friday, July 31, 2009 at Holmesville Baptist Church near Downsville with Rev. Jerry Whitman and Rev. Kenneth Mills officiating. Interment will be in Holmesville Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Allen was born March 31, 1944 in Downsville to James Curtis and Gladys Allen. He died July 27, 2009 in Monroe. He was a retired sales manager for Hunt Forest Products. Mr. Allen was a member of the Holmesville Baptist Church and the Hickory Tree Hunting Club. In his spare time, Mr. Allen enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and was an avid fan of baseball and football. Mr. Allen is survived by his son: Curtis Allen and wife Sally of Ruston; his daughter: Angela Allen Rychart and husband Bobby of Monroe; grandchildren: Shelby, Claire, Brandon, Josh, Jack and Mary Hope; one brother: Glen Allen of Kingsport, TN; two sisters Margaret Foster of Downsville, June Lenard of West Monroe and Kay Borden of Downsville as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be his nephews Doug Foster, Fred Foster, Bryan Hancock, Clay Borden, Paul Borden and Eddie Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Hancock, Danny Hancock, Todd Borden and Randy Foster. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association, the March of Dimes, Holmesville Cemetery Fund or St. Jude's Hospital.
