Jeff Luellen officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rose Cemetery in Grayson, LA under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Friday, March 31, 2017 at the funeral home. Mr. Allen was born February 24, 1941 in Clarks, LA and passed from this life on March 28, 2017 in West Monroe, LA at the age of 76. He served four years in the United States Air Force. He retired from Cotton's Holsum Bakery and was known by his children and grandchildren as "Papaw Honeybun". Mr. Allen was a compassionate, caring, and giving person who never met a stranger. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Paul Allen, Sr. and Clara Evelyn Douglas Allen; and his siblings, Alfred Paul Allen, Jr., Dewana Sue Henderson and Margaret Elizabeth Clary. Survivors include his children, Pamela Allen Whatley and husband Tommy, Tina Renee Booth, James Edward Allen, Jr. and Sgt. Stacy Crump U.S.M.C.; eight grandchildren, Kacie, Alayna, Zach, Jess, Dalayla, Austin, Alyssa and Dallas; his siblings, Linda Fay Allen Farnell, Daniel Otis Allen and Roger Dale Allen; special friend and caretaker, Charles Ray Kilcrease; also survived by five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Jess Booth, Zachary Whatley, Austin Allen, Jerry Bass, Shannan Harrison and Phillip Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Coleman and Thomas Whatley. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Aime Hospice and to all who contributed to allowing James to live at home with his family until his passing.
