Interment will follow at St. Matthew Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Amman was born in Bastrop, LA and passed away at home on Sunday, May 17, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Fred C. Amman, Jr.; her parents, Allen Thurman and Lucile Corbin Turpin; brothers, Allen T. Turpin, Jr. and Corbin J. Turpin. She was a member of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Monroe Junior Charity League. She served as State President of the Louisiana Dental Auxiliary, President General of the First Families of Mississippi, and President of the Monroe Garden Club. For many years, she worked with her brothers as an advertising executive of Turpin Lumber Company, during a time that it expanded to a multi-state business. Survivors include her brother, Carl T. Turpin; her four children, Evelyn Hahn and husband Bob, Dottie Hardy and husband Bill Bailey, Frederic Amman and wife Martha, and Corbin Amman and wife Jeannie; twelve grandchildren, Walter Ligon and wife Becky, Dottie Thornton and husband Chris, Melissa Hardy, George Hardy, Francie Amman, Perry Estis and husband Brett, Rebecca Sonnier and husband Kory, Kathryn Joyce and husband Jeff, Corbin Amman and wife Amy, Lisa Amman and husband Phil Stiger, Mary Anice Amman, and Frederic Amman; eight great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Walter B. Ligon, III, Walter B. Ligon, IV, Corbin T. Amman, Jr., George W. Hardy, IV, Frederic E. Amman, and Leonard Ligon. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Corbin J. Turpin, Jr., Jeff W. Turpin, Dr.Allen T. Turpin, William Turpin, Dr. Carl T. Turpin, Jr., and Delton Hearn. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, May 18, 2009 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
