She was born July 15, 1942 to Francis V. and June E. LaValle in Charleston, SC. Cecelia was a 1960 graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and received a B.A. in commercial art from Northeast Louisiana State College and an MFA from Louisiana Tech in 2000. Cecelia was a graphic artist, editor and magazine publisher, and real estate broker. She lived and worked in northern Louisiana, California, Texas, and North Carolina before moving to West Columbia in 2001. In West Columbia, she opened the Silver Spoon Art Gallery and the Vintage Rose. She was a member of and ambassador for the West Columbia Chamber of Commerce and an active member of the Brazoria Art League. Cecelia was surrounded by friends and family at her death. She is survived by her husband, Jimmie Amox of West Columbia; daughter, Michele Eppinette Smith, The Woodlands, Tx.; grandsons, Nicholas Smith and Brandon Smith, The Woodlands; siblings, Neilia LaValle, Huntington Beach, Ca., Deanna LaValle High, Manassas, Va., and Francis X. LaValle, New Bern, NC; niece, Elizabeth Scott High, Manassas, Va.; and nephews, Kyle Riley and Patrick Riley, Charlottesville, Va. Her parents preceded her in death. A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, November 15 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia. A viewing for family and friends will take place on Monday, November 14, also at Baker Funeral Home. Cecelia is greatly loved by many and will be sorely missed. Services are under the direction of Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, 634 S. Columbia Dr. 77486. (979) 345-3232.
