Funeral services were held May 29, 2017 and interment followed at Black Lake Full Gospel Cemetery in Campti. John was born June 26, 1935, in Ansley, LA, the youngest of six children to Cleve and Lena Bell Anderson. He was educated in the public schools of Louisiana and attended Louisiana Technical College in Ruston on a track scholarship. He graduated from Louisiana Tech and began teaching and coaching basketball and track in Summerfield, LA and later at Stonewall. After experiencing the low pay of the teaching profession, John decided to change careers, and entered the life insurance business with a company in Oklahoma. After several successful years John decided to start his own insurance marketing company. In November of 1976, with the assistance of his wife Doyce, he organized and began the operation of Professional Marketing of America. PMA is one of America's great success stories, growing from an infant in 1976 to one of the largest insurance marketing organizations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas and Florida. He was a hard worker and expected a tremendous amount of himself. He also had a magnetic personality to which people were naturally drawn, and he believed our only limits are those that we impose upon ourselves. Recognized for his ability, advice and judgment, he never gave up teaching, assisting many, young and old alike, to accomplish their goals and fulfill their dreams. John was a lifelong Baptist. An avid reader while his eyesight allowed, his hobbies included sports, travel and fishing. Throughout his life, John loved all sports and enjoyed a long time involvement in the athletic programs at both Northwestern State University and Louisiana Tech. John and Doyce traveled extensively. John especially loved Kona, on the big island of Hawaii, listening to the waves crashing onto the shore. He loved their condo in Santa Fe and so enjoyed burning pinion wood that upon leaving, he would have it shipped home. More recently, he enjoyed the condo in Hot Springs, going as often as possible. John loved trying new restaurants, but upon each return home, he realized he actually preferred Miss Annie's cooking over them all. John was an avid fisherman and loved his fishing buddies at Chandler's Camp and spent many hours fishing on Black Lake. John was always open to loading his plane with as many as possible, to take with him, always looking forward to the day he could return to Black Lake to stay. John had a wonderful sense of humor, was a loving husband and father, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister, daughters, Amy Anderson and Debbie Moncrief, and son, Roy Barnes. He is survived by his loving wife, Doyce Faye Anderson of Campti; brother, Algon Anderson of Jamestown, CA; sister-in-law, Hilda Hancock of Campti; two daughters, Carol Anderson Binding (Ron) of Ft. Myers, FL. and Ramona Anderson Patton (Robert) of Edmond, OK; one son, Andy Anderson of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Taylor Binding, Kelly Binding, Lena Maxwell, Jake Bruley, Riley Patton, Josh Barnes, Karen Nicole Barnes, Justin Williams, Jessica Diamond, Aaron Moncrief, Jordan Goetz, Hannah Goetz, along with great grandchildren, Zane, Nash, Austin, Kaylee, Jayden, Taylor, Shawn, Bastian and Caleb. The family would like to give special thanks to all the nurses, who lovingly cared for John.
