He was born in Monroe, Louisiana on September 18, 1956 to the late William "Bill" Talmage Armstrong and Mary Nell Wilkinson Armstrong. Jeff owned and operated Armstrong's Cricket Farm in Glennville, Georgia for 21 years after relocating from the West Monroe, Louisiana family farm where he worked since he was a teenager. After graduating from Woodward Academy in 1974, he obtained his bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech in 1979. Jeff was an active and generous giver to his community. Whether big or small, whatever the need was, he willingly provided. Jeff always had an open door policy and would happily give tours to the local schools and travelers passing through town. His zest for life and business was contagious and motivating to those around him. As a business man, he reaped much success from his hard work in expanding and growing Armstrong's Cricket Farm. In 2010, he was awarded Tattnall County Business Person of the Year followed by winning the award for Glennville Chamber of Commerce International Business of the Year in 2014, in addition to the Greater Tattnall Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award honoring the Armstrong family and pioneers in the cricket farm industry. When Jeff was not working, he enjoyed hunting, coaching his children in ball, maintaining his home in the country, and spending time with his family. He instilled his passion for nature and living in the south into his three children (Paige, Jacob, and Jessica) and three grandchildren (Avery, Charlotte, and Brooklyn). So much so, that he built a chicken coop for his granddaughters to collect eggs when they came to visit. Jeff's fun-loving personality made his family's life exciting. It wasn't uncommon for them to see their dad and Papa break into dance moves or sing a cajun tune. He loved family traditions and always made sure his children "believed" in the magic of Christmas. Jeff is preceded in death by his father, W.T. "Bill" Armstrong and former mother-in-law Betty Lewis of West Monroe, La. He is survived by his mother, Nell Armstrong of Glennville, Ga; former father-in-law Lloyd Lewis of West Monroe, La; former and loving wife of 30 years Debbie Armstrong, daughter Paige Ewing (Michael), and son Jacob Armstrong of Buford, Ga; daughter Jessica Curran (Liam) of Kennesaw, Ga; granddaughters Avery and Charlotte Ewing and Brooklyn Curran; brothers Jack Armstrong (Betty) and Jimmy Armstrong (Crystal) of West Monroe, La; sister Juli Zopf (John) of Tybee Island, Ga; and several loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Services will be held at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, Georgia. The visitation begins at 5 pm on Monday, November 21, 2016. The funeral chapel service begins at 11 am on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 with Rev. Rick Cason and Rev. Tom Sollosi officiating. A graveside service and burial will follow at The Glennville City Cemetery. Pallbearers: Gary Dasher, Charles Reddish, Lee Johnson, Brandon Armstrong, Michael Crummey, and Mark Durrence.
