Tommy Frost, Rev. Clarence Powell, Dr. John "Bud" Traylor, and Rev. Craig West officiating. Music will be provided by "Psalm 100", the group she directed for 15 years, Linda Mulhern, Phyllis Jones, Amanda Terry, and Darrell Washam. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, on Friday, January 11 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mrs. Arrington was born February 25, 1934 in Alexandria, LA and died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center after a hard fought battle with cancer. In the years in between, she touched so many lives with her beautiful voice, wonderful food, decorating, hospitality, and teaching. She was a master conductor, able to control every crescendo, every breath, every voice with just the slightest motion, all the while enriching each singer's spiritual life. She had a "whatever it takes" level of commitment and expected the same from everyone who worked with, around, or under her. "Whatever you do, do it heartily as unto the Lord." Col. 3:23. Mrs. Arrington was director of music at Louisiana Baptist Children's Home for 29 years. At Monroe's First Baptist Church she directed Youth Choir, taught high school girls' Sunday School, co-directed several Sunday School departments, was co-chairman of the remodeling committee, hosted College Bible Study in her home, even after she became sick, and directed "Psalm 100" for 15 years. In the community she was vice president of Monroe Garden Club, on the Monroe Symphony Board, a member of Music Guild, Kaleidoscope, and soloed, accompanied by Linda Mulhern, all over Monroe and the surrounding states. Mrs. Arrington attended Ouachita Baptist University, where she was on the Alumni Board and University of Louisiana at Monroe where she graduated with a degree in Vocal Music Education. Mrs. Arrington was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Luker Buckner and Rev. John Wordy Buckner; and son, Joseph Scott Arrington. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Dr. Bill Arrington; son, Kent and wife Laura of Monroe; daughter, Elise Arrington Leitzel and husband Tim of Cleveland, OH; daughter-in-law, Edna Arrington Mayor and husband Gary of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Jennilee Arrington and fiancée Will Nolan, Emily Laura Arrington, William Arrington, Grace Arrington Mayor, Sara Mayor, Jackson Mayor, Bo Mayor, and Elise Mayor; great granddaughter, Ella Little; stepmother, Juanita Buckner; brothers, Luther Buckner and wife Annette, Jimmy Buckner and wife Linda, Wordy Buckner and wife Sandy; sisters, Dottie Clark and husband Mike, and Helen Wright; brother-in-law, Jim Arrington and wife, Carol; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Chris Allums, Cecil Lipscomb, III, Troy McCullen, Norman McQueeen, Heath Munholland, Allen Redding, Mark Saterfield, and Jimmy Terry, Jr. Memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church, Monroe.
