Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Osborn Funeral Home in Shreveport. Funeral services will begin at 10am on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Noel Memorial United Methodist Church Worship Center in Shreveport with Rev. Mimi McDowell officiating. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 2 pm at Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe, LA with Rev. Ray Owens officiating. David was born on June 4, 1982 in Monroe, LA, graduated Ouachita Parish High School in 2000 and Louisiana Tech University in 2008 in Applied Biology. David was employed by Pratt Industries-Shreveport for 7 years as a Machine Operator. David was preceded in death by his grandparents: Marie Muller Guillot, Gehlen Guillot, Virginia Adams Atkins, and Thomas J. Atkins Sr. David is survived by wife of 3 years, Heather L. Atkins; daughter, Avery June Atkins, 7, with first wife, Kallie Guiterrez; his son, Wyatt David Atkins, 3; parents, Thomas J. Atkins Jr. and Ann Guillot Atkins; sister, Kelsey Atkins Sylvester and husband, Dr. Richard Sylvester; father and mother-in-law, Michael and Lauren Lancaster; brother-in-law, Clint Lancaster; aunt, Viva Atkins; uncle, John Guillot; God-children, Tristen Menzies and Sage Bell; and many Friends. Pallbearers will be Clint Lancaster, John Guiterrius, Kenny Webb, Jonas Schuster, Mike Michaud and Wynn Brocket. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of Pratt Industries of Shreveport. The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to American Cancer Society , Lemer Research Institute the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for F.A.P. research, Arc-Goldmen School/ Child Development Center, and Pilots for Patients. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Pratt Industries, The Glen Retirement System, Noel United Methodist Church, Hospice of Shreveport- Bossier, Dr. Werner, Dr. McDonald, and Dr. Durci and Willis Knighton Medical Center Staff.
