He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia King Austin of Mangham, LA, his seven children and their spouses, Michael Austin and wife Patricia of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter Judy Austin Jumonville and her husband Gabe of Baton Rouge, LA; Gail Austin Lyon and her husband Dr. Robert Lyon of Bastrop, LA; Brenda Austin Torsrud and her husband Jeff of Rayville, LA; Shirley Austin McDonald and her husband Randall of West Monroe, LA; Ron Austin and his wife Marsha of Atlanta, GA; Renee' Austin Crawford and her husband Scott of Rayville, LA; 10 grandchildren; Rebecca Reed, Rachel Austin, Matthew Lyon, Jason Lyon, Corey Austin, Janna Austin, Amelia Hutson, Annamaria Hutson, Austin Crawford and Avery Crawford; and 8 great grandchildren; Luke Reed, Jake Reed, Amanda Goodson, Austin Goodson, Cooper Lyon, A.J. Brewer, Chandler Brewer and Dakota Brewer He is also survived by his brothers Malcolm Austin and Harold Austin, sisters; Louise DeVille, Elaine Bernard and Pat Mercer. He was preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Eula Austin, brother; Tim Austin, sisters; Lettie Aswell, Eugenia Harris, and Mary Haynes. Visitation will be at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro, LA on Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 12 noon till time of service at 2:00 PM conducted by Dr. Ernest Winburn. Burial will follow in Lone Cherry Baptist Church Cemetery, Mangham, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro, LA. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Corey Austin, Matthew Lyon, Jason Lyon, Jason Reed, Austin Crawford and nephews; Robert Dye, Andy Dye, and Randy Dye. He loved gardening, cooking for his family, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed being a ham radio operator and is known by friends as K5QBE.
