MARTHA ANN AVANT

Funeral Services for Martha Ann Avant, 70, of Calhoun, LA will be held at 
3:00PM Saturday, April 12, 2014 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West 
Monroe with Rev. Mike Fletcher, Rev. Scott Fletcher, and Bro. Glenn Guilliams 
officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe.

Martha was born on December 26, 1943 in Lincoln, AL and passed away on April 
9, 2014 in West Monroe, LA. She was an avid horsewoman and was a former member 
of the NLBRA and LRCA. Martha was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She 
is preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Buelah Buford; 3 brothers, and 
one sister.

Survivors include her husband, James "Sonny" Avant; children, Georgia "Poodle" 
Brown and husband Jason, James "Bubba" Avant, Rhonda Fowler and fiancé Peter 
Hill, Pam Avant Savage and husband Thomas, and Cindy Avant and partner Sharon; 
grandchildren, Mollea, Morgan, Kayla, Brandi, and Candice, five great-
grandchildren, sister-in-law, Margaret Buford; and numerous nieces and nephews 
in Louisiana and Alabama.

Pallbearers will be Hal Parker, Greg Buford, Gary Buford, Scotty Bennett, 
David "Woody" Woodcock, and Brian Giger.

Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until service time at 3:00PM Saturday, 
April 12, 2014 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
