Sellers Aycock, Jr. died Friday evening, February 21, 2014 in his home in Rayville after a long illness. He was born December 17, 1932 to the union of Eunice Downes Aycock and Sellers Aycock, Sr. Sellers was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by Sarah, his wife of 60 years. Other survivors include his children C.S. (Sandy) Aycock, III, of Dallas, Texas, Larry Aycock and his wife, Vicky Peña, of Atlanta, Georgia, Beth Aycock Green and her husband, James Morris Green, of Rayville, and Melanie Aycock of Monroe; sisters, Sarah Thomason of Rayville and Claire Brown of Ruston; grandchildren, Josh Smith and his wife, Hillary Holstein Smith, of Madison, Wisconsin, Matt Smith of New Orleans, David Aycock of Waco, Texas, Bryan Aycock and his fiancé, Meredith Ricketts, of Jackson, Wyoming, and Callee Gwin Blanchard, and her husband, Andrew Blanchard, of Houma, Louisiana; and great-grandchildren Phillip Houston Blanchard and Emilia Marie Aycock. Sellers graduated Rayville High School in 1951 and Louisiana College in 1955 where he majored in religion. While securing his diploma, he served as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Richland Parish. He received his bachelors of divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1959. In 1960, Sellers returned to Rayville to join his father in re-establishing Aycock Cotton Company, Inc. where he worked as a cotton broker for 40 years. During that time he became the first State Farm Insurance agent in Rayville where he served as an agent for 50 years until his retirement in 2012. He also served on the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Rayville for many years. Sellers served with distinction on the Louisiana College Board of Trustees for the maximum years allowed. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Board of Trustees on Founders' Day, October 12, 2000. He is also remembered for his active involvement at various times in his life with KRIH radio station, Delta Ridge Implement Company, the Pickin' and Ginnin' Cotton Festival, the Richland Players, the Strauss Playhouse in Monroe, LA, the Rayville Kiwanis Club and the State Mental Health Board, not to mention his continuing ministry at numerous weddings, funerals and other special occasions. His was a life of service and integrity, liberally sprinkled with his love of poetry and music. A kinder, gentler gentleman cannot be found. Our world is a better place because Sellers was here. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 3:30 - 5:30 pm and a memorial service will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 3 pm. Both will be held at the First Baptist Church of Rayville, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Rayville. There will be a private interment. Pallbearers are David Thomason, Charlie Thomason, Lasley Thomason, Jim Brown, George Brown, Lewis Cowart and Frank Cumpton. Honorary pallbearers are Earl Hogan, Lonnie Walters, Timmie Thames, Henry Logue, Bob Kennedy, Guy Barr and Frank Burnside, Sr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Sellers' honor to the Saints Alive program for seniors at the First Baptist Church of Rayville or the Rhymes Memorial Library, P.
