JR. AYCOCK Memorial services for Daniel B. Aycock, Jr., 89, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 18, 2015, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Lynn Malone officiating. Mr. Aycock died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Northeast Louisiana War Veteran's Home in Monroe, LA. Daniel B. Aycock, Jr., was born August 16, 1925, in Vicksburg, MS, to D.B. and Ruby Aycock and moved to Jonesboro, AR, when he was four years old. He attended Arkansas State Training School, and graduated from Jonesboro High School. He also attended Mississippi State and graduated from Arkansas State College. Dan was in the U.S. Navy Air Cadets and was honorably discharged in 1946. He then moved to Albuquerque, NM, where he became a supervisor at Sandia Corp. He was lead tenor for The Lads of Enchantment Barber Shop Quartet in 1957, winning the International Championship. Dan retired in 1990 after 30 years with the Federal Government Social Security Administration. He lived in Monroe, LA, for the last 49 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Monroe. He will be remembered for his love of spending time on the Ouachita River with his family and grandchildren. Mr. Aycock was preceded in death by his parents, D.B. Aycock Sr. and Ruby Aycock; brother, William "Bill"Aycock of Jonesboro, AR; son, John Berry Norman of Monroe, LA; and grandson, James L. Norman III of Monroe, LA. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Joan Fuller Norman Aycock; six sons, Daniel Edward Aycock and wife Chris of Broken Arrow, OK, Scott M. Aycock and wife Margy of Broken Arrow, OK, Joe Aycock and wife Mary of Little Rock, AR, James Norman, Jr. and wife Cathy of Monroe, LA, Jerry L. Aycock and wife Tami of Hensley, AR, Jason Fuller Aycock and wife Rebekah of Monroe; daughter, Jan Norman Turner and husband Terry of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Brienne Norman Shelby, Dr. Scott Shelby, Jennifer Mondobello of Hammond, LA, Chris Norman, Kate and Jeremy Aycock of Phoenix, AZ, and Heather Deal of Monroe, LA; and great grandchildren, James Deal, Amanda Shelby, Abbey Shelby and Lena Aycock. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
