Services for Almer Virgil Vinson, Sr., 82, of Monroe, will be 2:00 PM, Friday,November 10, 2000, in Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel, Sterlington Road, Monroe,with Dr. Randy McGee officiating. Burial will be Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Vinson died Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at North Monroe Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Monroe and the American Legion. He was a WW II Air Force Veteran and a former member of the Rotary Club and Traffic Club. His parents, Almer Eugene and Georgia Preuett Vinson, and 2 brothers, Emory and Wayne Vinson,preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lorene Gilpin Vinson of Monroe; sons,Gary Vinson of Shreveport and Virgil Vinson, Jr. and his wife, Rhea, of Lake Worth, TX; daughter-in-law, Tina Vinson; grandchildren, Courtney and Peyton Vinson, Allen Vinson, and Sean, Pam and Denise McGee; great granddaughter, Krystal Vinson; great-grandsons, Travis and Douglas Winemiller; brothers, A.E.Vinson and his wife, Helen, of Jena, LA, Ray Vinson and his wife, June, of Bossier City, LA, and Jesse Vinson and his wife, Wanda, of Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Vernon Whitlock, A.D. Foreman, Dan Trimble, Carlos Brown,Earl Knotts, and Ed Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church and members of Fellowship Sunday School Class. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home,Sterlington Road, Monroe. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Monroe or the donor's favorite charity.
