She was 89 years old. She will be known for her quiet sophistication, keen judgment, and love of family and friends. Pat was an avid reader, accomplished bridge player, and a true sports fan. LSU Football and the New Orleans Saints were two of her favorite topics. She traveled this country and the world and had a life of experiences for which she was very grateful. Born in Natchez, Mississippi, Pat was raised in St. Joseph, Louisiana where her family settled in the early 1800's. She has called Monroe home for over 60 years. Pat was Valedictorian of her class at Davidson High School in St. Joseph. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama where she was member of the Phi Mu sorority. As part of the inaugural class, she became one of the first females to complete the masters of business program at the University of Alabama, School of Business. It was at school that Pat met Stan Bagwell. They were married in 1950 celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death in 2000. She and Stan were the founders of First Finance & Thrift and later Stan Bagwell Imports. Pat served as CEO of Mound Place LLC. She was a member of the Panola Company Limited Board of Directors. Throughout her life, Pat continued her family's legacy managing investments in banking, agribusiness, and real estate. Pat was active in the civic and philanthropic community, and was a long time member of Grace Episcopal Church. She participated in a variety of endeavors including her Travel Club, Thursday Bridge Club, Investment Club, and the Potpourri Book Club. In 2012, Pat partnered with David Harding of Legacy Preservation Partners to write and compile a memoire entitled UP RIVER, DOWN RIVER A Family Lands in Tensas. This manuscript was a true gift to her family and our community as it chronicled the journey of her family as they emigrated from Europe ultimately finding a home in Tensas Parish. Two editions were printed, and a family highlight was a book signing benefitting the St. Joseph's Arts Council in 2013. She is survived by three children, her daughter, Dr. Jan Bagwell Johnston and husband, Dix Johnston of Monroe, son, Curry Bagwell of Monroe, and son, Norm Bagwell and wife, Robin Bagwell of Dallas, Texas. Pat has seven grandchildren including Jessica Johnston, Mary Ann Johnston, Curry Bagwell, Jr., Jennifer Hoychick, Christopher Bagwell, Lauren Patricia Bagwell, and Nolan Bagwell. She was especially proud of her great grandchildren Addie Bagwell, Christian Bagwell, Lily Katherine Hoychick, Emme Hoychick, and Ellie Hoychick. A visitation will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Kilbourne Hall on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at 9:00 AM with a memorial service to follow in the sanctuary at 10.30 AM with The Reverend Richard Norman officiating. Interment will be at 12:30 PM in Natchez, Mississippi at the family place in the Old Natchez City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Bagwell, Curry Bagwell, Jr., Nolan Bagwell, Tim Hoychick, Brooks Watson, Rusty Ratcliff, Steve Brunson, and Derek Daniels. Honorary pallbearers are Ed Seymour, Jr., Lovell Hayden, Dix Johnston, Dr. Robert Wood, , Bob Giles, David Harding, Pete Caston, Robert Lee Curry, and The Board of Directors of Panola Company Limited.
