JAMES KENNETH BAKER Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral services for Mr. James Kenneth Baker, 86, of Eros, LA will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Clark Springs Baptist Church, intersection of Highway 546 and Clark Springs Road. Rev. C. T. Smith and Rev. Mickey Hudnall will officiate. Interment will follow at Clark Springs Cemetery, Eros, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mr. Baker was born August 3, 1922 in Calhoun, LA to John A. and Mary Truluck Baker and passed away March 18, 2009 at his home. He graduated from Calhoun High School and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe where he sang in the Men's Chorus. He served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the 824th Bombardment Squadron from February 1943 to July 1945. Mr. Baker participated in 37 combat missions in Italy and central Europe. For his service to our country, Mr. Baker received an air medal with two oak leaf clusters and a good conduct medal for service in the European Theater of Operations. Upon discharge from the service, Mr. Baker had a long career with the National Cash Register Company. Upon retirement, Mr. Baker returned to Calhoun where he raised peaches and was an avid fisherman. Mr. Baker was an active member of Clark Springs Baptist Church, Eros, where he sang in the choir and was known for his great sense of humor. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Bess McAllister Baker, daughter, Diane Caton and husband Carl, Wichita, KS, daughter-in-law Diana Baker, Ft. Smith, AR. Niece, Marianne Sumrall, Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughters; Lisa Phillips, Little Rock, AR. And Teresa de la lsla and husband David, Houston, TX; grandsons, Todd Caton and wife Rocio Overland, Park, KS and Matthew Caton and wife Cheryl, Wichita, KS; great-grandchildren; Gabriela and Mateo de la Isla Sydnee, Savannah, and Carter Caton; other family members include Malcolm Kuhn and wife Cheryl, Chad Kuhn.Woody Kuhn and wife Ellen . Pallbearers will be Todd Caton, Matthew Caton, David de la Isla, Ray Walters, Earl Williams and J. T. Gilmore. Visitation will be held Friday, March 20, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Disabled American Veterans.
