Mr. Barfield was born January 30, 1925 in Fort Necessity, LA to Henry Benson Barfield and Mary Annie Eubanks Barfield and passed from this life on February 1, 2013 at his residence in Newellton, LA. He was a 39 year employee of the Tensas Parish Sheriffs Department; a Marine Veteran of World War II, he served in the south pacific and participated in the battles of Bogainville, Guadalcanal, Saipan, Tinian, Guam and Okinawa; an active member of the American Legion; a member of Bethany Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mr. Barfield is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma Ruth Stone Barfield, daughter Barbara Montgomery and husband Randy, daughter Lynn Blanche and husband Winn, son Bobby Barfield and wife Angie, son Mark Barfield and wife Kay, grandchildren Tommy Montgomery, Jay Montgomery, Brooks Blanche, Lane, Blanche, Olivia Barfield, Riley Barfield, Georgia Barfield, Hunter Barfield, and Megan Barfield, his brothers Bill Barfield, David Barfield, Quincy Barfield, and sister, Lela Warren, as well as 6 great grandchildren.
