His wife of 65 years, Dorothy Helen Guillot Barefield, was at his side. He and Helen had five children. He was the oldest son of Robert Miles and Johnnie Mae McDaniel Barefield. He is survived by his children; Brad Barefield, Glen Barefield, Renae Cochran and Darren Barefield, Grandsons; Guy Alan Cochran and Dustin Barefield. He is also survived by his eight brothers and sisters; Emma Glascock, Betty Peterson, Lottie Corbin, George Barefield, Linda Newman, Raymond Barefield, Russell Barefield, Robert Barefield. J B is preceded in death by his son, Ken Barefield, sister, Mamie Tumlison and brother, Carl Barefield. He was a wonderful father, husband; grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. J B enjoyed; hunting, gardening, fixing things, spending time with his family and especially his two grandsons and doing all the things you do on a farm. He took good care of his family. Funeral Services for J B will be held on Friday, December 26th, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with visitation being held also on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home-Winnsboro, LA., with Rev. Don Blackmon and Rev. Kyle Spinks officiating. Interment to follow at Turkey Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all the many friends who have supported us in our time of need with prayers, food, and a kind shoulder to lean on and other innumerable kindnesses. We wish to formally acknowledge the kindnesses of long time family friend, Scott Cain, Ms. Dutchie Gwin, Reba Lynn 'Miss Bill' Ezell, Mr. Don Blackmon, Mr. Kyle Spinks, and a special thanks to Lisa Faulk and the staff of TLC Hospice for their compassion and invaluable help.
