Greg Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Beulah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Calhoun under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Born October 24, 1915, in Calhoun, LA, she passed away on Friday, May 8, 2009, in West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randal L. Barnes on December 30, 1952 and her parents, Elbert and Mattie Emory Murphrey. She and Randal owned and operated the R. L. Barnes Dairy and Pasteurizing Plant in the early 1940's and 50's. It was later sold to Borden Dairy. Mrs. Barnes was active member of Cedar Crest Baptist Church and a member of the "Grace" Sunday School Class. Survivors include her three children, Meretta (Rita) Moore and husband, Bill; Gwendolyn Snowden and husband, Harold; and Nancy E. Brunson and husband, Shelton. The grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as "Mamaw," are Leslie Moore Porter; Wendi L. Richardson and husband, Jody; Jason Snowden and wife, Jenny; Justin Snowden and wife, Emily; Grant C. Brunson; and John C. Brunson and wife, Karen. She also has ten great-grandchildren: Grayson and Jentri Grace Richardson; Dylan, Ethan, and Annalee Snowden; Taylor Grace and Baylee Snowden; and James, Mark, and Thomas Brunson. Surviving sisters include Herece McMullen of Monroe, Gladys Spurlock of Beeville, TX, Elaine Ables of Calhoun, and Loraine Otwell of West Monroe. A step-brother, Bobby Russell, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Pallbearers are Jason and Justin Snowden, Grant and John Brunson, Joseph Richardson and Donald Murphrey. Visitation is Sunday, May 10, 2009, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.
