Monday, December 1, 2014 at Longstraw Baptist Church in Choudrant with Rev. Larry Emory officiating. Interment will follow in Longstraw Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home and Monday prior to the service at the church beginning at 12:00 until service time. Mrs. Barnett passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2014. She was born in Junction City, Arkansas on November 9, 1913 to Sam Cain Hux and Mary M. Woods Hux. She had lived a long and fruitful life of 101 years on this earth. Mrs. Barnett, lovingly known as "Granny" by family and friends, had lived for the past sixty (60) years in the Ruston, LA area where for many years she was an active member of Longstraw Baptist Church. For the past five years she resided at Alpine Guest Care in Ruston. The family expresses their appreciation to the administration and staff of Alpine. Mrs. Barnett is survived by two sons and one daughter: William F. "Bill" Barnett of Minden, LA. and his wife Margie; daughter Billie Ann Mays of Arcadia, LA;Dr. John W. Barnett of West Monroe, LA and his wife Gail; and daughter-in-law Mary Barnett of Monroe, LA. She is survived by seven grandchildren: DeWayne and Charlotte Barnett, Samuel J. Barnett, Wesley and Jamie Barnett, Clint and Shirley Barnett, Ben and Shawna Barnett, Wayne and Leslie Barnett, Samantha Barnett Till and Matt Till; and three step- grandchildren: Jon' and James Hashimoto; Andrea and P. J. Ruhl; Reagan Sims; and eight great grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of over fifty (50) years, Willie F. Barnett, one son, Samuel L. Barnett, her parents, two sisters, one brother, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
