MATTIE BELLE TUGWELL BARNHILL

Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Monroe, LA

Funeral services for Mattie Belle Tugwell Barnhill, 84 of Monroe, LA will be 
Saturday September 19th at 2:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane in 
Monroe, with Dr Alan Miller officiating. Interment will be at Liberty Hill 
Cemetery in Union Parish.

Mrs. Barnhill was born at Tugwell City, LA, January 14, 1927 to Claude and 
Mattie Tugwell. She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University in 1945 and 
devoted 39 years of her life teaching elementary school. She was a faithful 
member of the Louise L. McGuire Chapter No.4 OES and Past Matron and Past 
Grand Officer of Louisiana. She has been a member of 1st Baptist Church of 
Monroe for the past 39 years.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wayne Barnhill; 2 children, Ben 
Barnhill and wife Cathy of Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Donna Cathey and husband 
Stewart of Monroe, LA , 4 grandsons, Corey Barnhill, 1LT Stewart Cathey, Jr., 
Brent Barnhill, and Erich Cathey; 1 sister, Ola Mae Maddrey and a host of 
nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and 5 sisters. Pall 
bearers will be Mrs. Barnhill's nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, September 18th, 2009 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at 
Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Memorials may be given to the 1st Baptist Church, Monroe, elevator fund.
