Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be at 1:00 PM in the Parkview Chapel prior to the funeral service. Mr. Bauer, a retired educator in the Ouachita Parish School System, was born in Passaic, New Jersey, December 13, 1914, and passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Davis Bauer, and his grandson, David Webb. Survivors include his children, Paula Webb, Karen McDowell and husband, Gary McDowell; grandchildren, Katherine Webb and Emily Webb; sister, Rose Taylor; and brother, Fred Bauer. Mr. Bauer, a retired United States Air Force Lt. Colonel, served with distinction during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and performed many hours of volunteer work in the community. Pallbearers will be Gerald Cockerham, Curt Eberts, Charles Hill, Curt Kennedy, John Kennedy, and Rick Savage. In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to Parkview Baptist Church or to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home. Deep appreciation is extended to members of the David Byrd Bible Study Class, to Dr. Gregory Green and staff, and to the caregivers at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home.
