Born on December 24, 1935, in Monroe, Louisiana, she is preceded in death by husband, Cecil C. Belgard II, mother, Charline Burk Poulan, adoptive father, Henry T. Poulan Sr., father, Nathan Burk and brother Tommy Poulan. She graduated in 1953 from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe where she enjoyed playing the clarinet in the band. Her college career began at Northeast Louisiana University. Along with her studies, she played in the band for a semester. After 2 ½ yrs. she transferred to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana where she met the love of her life, Cecil C. Belgard II, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree, in Medical Technology. She married Cecil on November 23, 1957, in Monroe. Life together began in Manhattan, Kansas where Cecil was stationed at Fort Riley. Moving back to Monroe in 1958, she began her Medical Technologist career at St. Francis Medical Center before retiring from Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe. Upon retiring she and Cecil opened their own business, Wicks & Sticks, in Pecanland Mall from 1985 until 1997. They moved to Missouri in 1998 and enjoyed the home they built on Table Rock Lake living there until 2013 when health issues brought them back to Louisiana. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her joy and passion for life was contagious. You could not help but smile when you were around her. She loved to laugh and delighted in nature's beauty. She had a talent for oil painting and the rich, vibrant colors she put on the canvas were reflective of her personality. She was kind, and selfless, loved God, her family, and friends. She will be greatly missed! She is survived by her four children, Suzan Belgard Carter (Steve), Cecil (Sam) Belgard III, Scott Belgard (Lisa), Christy Belgard Campbell (Laura), two grandchildren, Lauren Belgard Head (Micah), Nathan Belgard (Hannah Kate), three great-grandchildren, Eleanor Elizabeth Head, Amelia Jane Head, Benjamin Clark Head, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. For those wishing to convey condolences to the family, visitation will be at 1 pm on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Pineville, Louisiana with a service to follow at 2 pm with the Reverend Micah Head officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Ball.
