She was born on January 29, 1934 in Newellton, LA. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Birch Hays "Skip" Bell, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Bell Lewis and Richard Wayne Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama, and son, Stephen Hays Bell of Austin, Texas. She had three grandsons, Richard Wayne Lewis, Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama, Patton Williams Lewis of Grapevine, Texas and James Campbell Lewis of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She also leaves behind a sister, Kathryn Patton Keith of Birmingham, Alabama, sisters-in-law, Pauline Meredith Patton of Winnsboro, Sue Boutwell Bell of Albany, Georgia, very special cousin, Mary Corley Michie, of Dripping Springs, Texas as well as 15 nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Herd Patton, Sr. and Alice Percy Buckner Patton, sisters, Jeanne Patton Reaves, Venice Patton Rhoades and brother Harvey Herd Patton, Jr. as well as brother-in-laws, J. B. Reaves, F. L. "Dusty" Rhoades and J. M. Bell, Jr. Alice was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She taught preschool and kindergarten to hundreds of children through the years at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Day School in Dallas, Texas and Covenant Presbyterian Church Day School. Alice was an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Monroe and a current member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of AK Chapter of PEO. A celebration of her life will take place on November 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Covenant Presbyterian Church.
