Ms. Berner was a native of Sulfur Springs, TX and lived her adult life in the Louisiana cities of Monroe, Metairie, and most recently, Lafayette. She founded and actively participated in the All Faith Worship Church Service at Rosewood Retirement Community in Lafayette. She graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and Northeast Louisiana State College. She attended Mississippi State Medical School and LSU School of Social Work. She retired from Louisiana State Welfare Department where she worked for 20 years. Memberships include Louisiana Bridge Association and Louisiana Federation of Republican Women's Clubs. She is survived by son Robert Pearce Larkan, Sr., his wife Starr Hamilton Larkan, sister-in-law Jane Humphries Pearce, daughter-in-law Arlee Hamilton Larkan, and grandchildren Lee Larkan Schultz, Michelle Larkan Ahola, Robert Pearce Larkan, Jr., Barbara Larkan Ward, and Linda Larkan LaBauve. She also leaves behind four great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, two step great- granddaughters, one step great-grandson. She was preceded in death by son James Michael (Mickey) Larkan, III; parents May Rhodes Pearce and Clifton Green Pearce; and brother Clifton Green Pearce, Jr. Ms. Berner was cremated in accordance with her wishes. Memorial service will be Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel on Highway 80 East in Monroe. Burial will be in the cemetery alongside her mother and father. Her pastor Gary Collins will be officiating.
