Peggy was born in the rural community of Colson, currently known as Rocky Branch, Louisiana. Her parents were James McElroy Tousineau and Opal Dale (Pace) Tousineau. Her family moved to Eudora, Arkansas, and her sister Shirley Nan and her brother Billy Roy were born there. The family returned to the State of Louisiana in 1940, where Peggy attended school in Ouachita Parish until graduating from OPHS in Monroe, LA in May of 1951. She attended one year of college at LSU of Monroe since financial circumstances caused an intervention in her educational pursuit. She married Press Berry, Jr. from Charleston, MO on February 7, 1953, and born from this union were three children, Michael Preston, Timothy Dale, and Dana Lynn. In March of 1966, Peggy was hired as a caseworker by the State of Missouri Dept. of Social Services, Division of Family Services, and in 1972 was promoted to supervisory status and was based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, until her retirement on November 1, 1994. Mrs. Berry was a member of the Murdale Baptist Church in Carbondale, IL. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women. Peggy was a master bridge card player and was a member of many local Bridge Clubs. She played bridge all across the nation from the east coast to the west coast. She was an avid football fan, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include three children and their families, son Michael Preston Berry, grandson Michael Preston Berry, Jr. and his wife Katie Lynn Angelly-Berry, and great grandchildren Gabrielle Joe Adams, Kain Floyd Adams, Kameron Lee Adams and Michael Joseph Berry; son Timothy Dale Berry and his wife Tina Marie (DeLuca) Berry, granddaughter Angela Marie Berry Albertini and her husband Mark Ryan Albertini, and great grandsons Anthony Ryan Albertini, and Andrew Charles Albertini, and grandson Seth Clayton and his wife Madison Shea Meacham-Berry, and great granddaughter Berkley Shea Berry; daughter Dana Lynn Berry Seay and her husband Robert Edgar Seay; two brothers, Billy Roy Tousineau and Danny Lavelle Tousineau, and one sister Cherry Gay Tousineau Genusa, and their families. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Shirley Nan Tousineau Lowery. It was Peggy's request that memorial contributions are given in her memory to support the fight against spousal and child abuse and neglect. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masonic Children's Home, 101 Masonic Drive, Murphysboro, IL 62966, the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203, or the Family Promise of Ouachita, 100 S. 2nd Street, West Monroe, LA 71291.
