Evelyn was born on June 25, 1935 in Delhi, Louisiana and passed away on December 29, 2021 in Monroe, Louisiana. Evelyn was a lifelong church member and in recent years attended The Assembly of West Monroe virtually. She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard "Bill" Bilton, Jr.; her parents, Ray Newton and Hazel Grayson Newton; and her brother, Ken Newton. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Lisa Bilton; sons, Brad Bilton, Bruce Bilton and wife Misty; grandchildren, Lexie, Noah and Mia; brother, Billy Ray Newton and wife Jo; sister, Patricia Melton and husband Bobby. As a full-time homemaker, Evelyn was very involved in every aspect of her children's lives. She was a baseball mom, a football mom, a softball mom, a dance mom, and a cheer mom. She encouraged her children to achieve to the best of their abilities and was known to push them a little if she thought they were slacking off. She believed in her children and encouraged them to be the best version of themselves they could be. In addition to caring for her three children, Evelyn was also a caretaker of anyone who needed her, including her parents and husband and many others. She was also a Sunday School teacher for many years before "retiring." Her grandchildren were the joy of her later years, and she loved nothing more than spending time with them. Pallbearers will be Joe Newton, Stuart Melton, Logan Newton, Grayson Parker, Andon Melton, and David Hartt. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Parker and Noah Bilton. The family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Barron and his staff, especially Ramona and Amanda, for their care during Evelyn's long and courageous battle with breast cancer. They also wish to thank Dr. John Bruchaus and staff, especially Nurses Katherine and Nick, for their loving compassion and care at the end of her journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation, St. Jude's Research Foundation, or the charity of your choice.
