Annie was born on July 31, 1940 in Calhoun, Louisiana to Nellie M. Young and Marcus G. Young. She attended both Central Elementary and High School. She continued the tradition of furthering her education that her grandmother, Annie M. Davis, and aunt, Kizzie L. Washington, had established and graduated from Grambling College in 1962. She then worked as a music teacher in Ouachita Parish and Jackson Parish. In the late 1960s, she relocated to Los Angeles, California. She continued to work as a music teacher for 37 years and retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District in 2004. Her retirement years were devoted to serving God, traveling the world, and being a loving sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her brothers: Marcus J. Young, Seattle, WA; Otis R. Young, Ridgeland, MS; Theodore L. Young, Seattle, WA; Samuel P. Young (Terri) Stone Mountain, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Deloris O. Small; and brothers, Roscoe P. I. Young and Jesse Chambers. Services will be held at 9am on March 31st at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary, 3801 W Manchester Blvd., Inglewood, CA 90305.
