This is how Marilyn Lawrence Black would quote one of her favorite scriptures, Psalm 23. Her other favorite scripture was I Corinthians 13:13 - Now the greatest of these is Love. Marilyn was born September 19, 1932 in the small town of Wilmot, AR to Ben and Doris Lockart Lawrence. Her mother and father divorced when Marilyn was very small. Marilyn's Dad later married a school teacher named Montez, who had an enormous and wonderful spiritual influence on young Marilyn. Marilyn felt blessed to have been brought up in the Christian home of her father and stepmother while living in rural Arkansas. She continued through her life with unwavering faith until her death on December 1, 2015 at age 83. During her last days on this earth she was showered with love from her family who deeply mourns her but, at the same time, rejoice that she is now enjoying the eternal life of love in heaven. Marilyn practiced her faith by being a charter member of the Lea Joyner United Methodist Church of Monroe; a faithful member of the Wednesday Prayer Group and the Pastor's Sunday School Class. She showed love by cooking wonderfully delicious meals to share with many others. It was through her cooking that she met great love, Fred Black, and proudly became his wife in 1975. They lived together on Caney Lake enjoying the outdoors and marveling at God's handiwork each day. To remember Marilyn's life, arrangements are as follows: Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe and Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Mulhearn Memorial Park with Rev.
