Throughout her life, Bobbie Ann loved her home town and the people who lived there. After high school, she worked in the office at Hatfield Hardware Store in Winnsboro. She often laughed as she told the story of her spending her paychecks buying records at Turner Mercantile from a new sales clerk, Elmo Blackmon. On April 18, 1948, Bobbie Ann married the love of her life, Elmo B. Blackmon, at her parents' house in Winnsboro. They were married for 62 years. As an active church member, she worked in WMU, taught Sunday School and VBS, cooked for mission trips, and fed visiting preachers and missionaries. She loved the Lord and her church. Throughout Bobbie's life, her dearest friends were her fellow church members. In 1957, Elmo and Bobbie opened Blackmon's Department Store in Winnsboro, where they served Franklin Parish for 43 years. She was Elmo's advisor, his encourager, and his partner in the store. Bobbie enjoyed working in DAR, having served the local White Oak Chapter as Regent. She enjoyed working on projects to beautify Winnsboro. Bobbie Ann loved her family, her neighbors, and her friends. In the later years, she appreciated the cards and phone calls from those neighbors and friends.
