Friday, July 7, 2017, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Jon Tellifero officiating. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery West Monroe, LA. Beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, Christine "Chris" Blackstock was born on July 23, 1925, in Natchitoches Parish, LA and entered eternal rest on July 3, 2017. Mrs. Blackstock was the youngest child of Ben Riddle and Bessie Mitchell, growing up in Saline, Readhimer and Jonesboro, Louisiana. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for almost 50 years and a member of the Fellowship Sunday school class. Mrs. Blackstock was active in her church, serving for many years as the coffee room hostess. Mrs. Blackstock was known for her two talents: cooking and sewing. Family and friends had favorite desserts which she happily fulfilled; most requests were for her fried apple hand pies, popcorn balls and pralines. As a seamstress, she designed and constructed numerous dance, cheer, twirl costumes, prom dresses, smocked children's clothing and later "retired" to doing alterations. The loves of Mrs. Blackstock's life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her. Mrs. Blackstock is preceded in death by her husband, W. J. "Bill" Blackstock. Survivors include: her daughters, Kay Storm and Jan Harville and husband Richard; granddaughters, Jordan Ray (Dustin), Mallory Harville (Aaron Jackson), Peyton Harville; grandsons, Ben Elmore (Kathy), Daniel Elmore; great grandchildren, Cailyn Elmore, Austin Elmore, Kennedy Ray and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ben Elmore, Daniel Elmore, Dustin Ray, Aaron Jackson, Richard Harville and Benny Matthews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch Tent Fund. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Friday, July 7, 2017, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA.
