BLACKWELL Jesus said, "Love one another as I have loved you." Edwin L. Blackwell, age 78, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA for ten years and five months, passed through the gate to heaven at 11:23 am, Wednesday, March 29, 2017. He was a member at Istrouma Baptist Church of Baton Rouge with prior membership at First Baptist Church of Pineville, Parkview Baptist Church of Alexandria and Highland Park Baptist Church of Monroe, where he recharged his life every week. He was ordained as a deacon in October, 1973. He lived his life on earth to the fullest with a joyful heart and a happy, helpful attitude with love for Jesus Christ, his family, friends, dogs and strangers. Ed worked at LA Department of Labor in Alexandria from April 1966 to January 2006 enjoying his time as a public servant and working with many different co- workers. He is survived by his wife, Annie Joe Parks Blackwell; daughter, Stefani Lin Blackwell of Baton Rouge; son Steven L. Blackwell, daughter-in- law, Noelle LeJeune Blackwell and granddaughter, Parker Elise Blackwell of Prairieville. Surviving sisters are Janette Blackwell Taunton of Farmerville, LA, Mary Louise Blackwell Towns of West Monroe, LA, with nieces, nephews and greats. Preceded in death include his parents, Murphy and Edna Carrington Blackwell, Sr. of Monroe, brother, Murphy Blackwell, Jr. of West Monroe, LA and sisters Ruth Stracener of Denham Springs, LA and Anna Lou Ryland of Loomis, CA. Celebration of life memorial will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Istrouma Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, LA with visitation prior to service from 12:30 to 2:00 pm.
