Interment will follow at The Jewish Cemetery. Morris Blumenthal was born in Monroe in 1930, graduated from Neville High School and proceeded to L.S.U. where he received his B.S. degree. After two years in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to Monroe and operated Fields ladies apparel stores for many years. He will be remembered as a person who had an engaging personality and genuinely cared about others in need of help. Morris served on the Boards of Temple B'Nai Israel, United Jewish Appeal, Temple B'Nai Israel Men's Club, The Advertising Group and The Kiwanis Club. After their son died in 1979, Morris and his wife establish The Alan Blumenthal Foundation for Mental Health, raising money for mental illness. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Blumenthal. Survivors: his wife of 61 years, Rita; daughter Vicki Kahn, three grandchildren - Lee, Adrienne and Margo, special cousin Morris B. Blumenthal and wife Linda; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Arthur Liles, Dr. Frank Weinholdt, Dr. Robert Ewing and Dr. Brian Krier all who gave Morris excellent care, as well as the Staff at Arbor/ Terrace, Avalon Place and Ridgecrest Nursing homes. In lieu of flowers, if one wishes to send a memorial it may be sent to Parkinson's Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305 or Temple B'Nai Israel, 2400 Orell Place, Monroe, LA 71201. Pallbearers will be Charles Masur, Ronnie Blate, Dr. Jules Dante, Larry Saltzman, Don Marcus, Jay Marx, Morris Mintz, Sam Rubin and Bobbie Bentz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ansel Smith, Dr. Fred Marx and Sackman Marx.
