Funeral services for Dr. Loren Dale Boersma, 76, of Ruston, LA will be 10:00 
AM Monday, March 30, 2009 at Christ Community Church in Ruston with Rev. Len 
Woods officiating the service. Interment will follow in Pines Memorial Gardens 
under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Dr. Boersma was born on July 22, 1932 in Denver, CO and passed away at his 
residence on March 27, 2009 after a lengthy battle with ALS. He grew up in 
Longmont, Colorado; attended the University of Colorado in Boulder; the 
University of Colorado Medical College in Denver; and finished his surgical 
residency at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Boersma was a Captain in the 
Air Force for two years, stationed at Bunker Hill Air Force Base. In 1964, 
they moved to Ruston and set up practice. In 1966, the Boersma Clinic was 
established. Dr. Boersma was involved in several mission trips outside the U. 
S. He enjoyed traveling; genealogy; singing in the Doctor's Quartet and other 
local musical groups. Dr Boersma was an elder in the Presbyterian Church; a 
member of Christ Community Church; belonged to the Louisiana State Medical 
Society; on staff at Lincoln General Hospital and North Louisiana Rehab; and 
adjunct professor at L.S. U. Medical Center in Shreveport.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years and one day Helen Luntsford Boersma; 
his children, Barbara Boersma Keller and husband Bob of Evansville, IN; David 
Boersma and wife Rachel of Ruston; Dr. Mark Boersma and wife Britt of Ruston; 
and Joanna Boersma Dieckman and husband Donnie of Jackson, MS; ten 
grandchildren, Lauren Dale Keller, Owen Keller, Mary Julia Keller, Katherine 
Keller, Natalie Keller, Wesley Boersma, Aaron Boersma, Kelley Grace Boersma, 
Jackson Boersma, Kate Cameron Boersma; brothers, Gordon Boersma; David Boersma 
and wife Wyolene; Richard Boersma and wife Lyn; sister, Judy Nakari and 
husband Ken; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of friends; patients; and his 
devoted clinic staff.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Tommy Smith, Dr. Larry Neal, Henry Hawes, Jim 
Anderson, Dr. Allen Herbert, and Bobby Conville. Honorary pallbearer is 
Phillip Carroll.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Christ 
Community Church in Ruston, LA.

Memorials may be made to Christ Community Church, 2301 North Trenton, Ruston, 
LA 71270 or ALS Society.
