DR. GENE S. BOYD
Young's Funeral Home

Jonesville, LA

Funeral services for Dr. Gene S. Boyd, 81, of Harrisonburg, LA, were held at 
First United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 
at 3:00 PM with Dr. George Wortham officiating. Interment will follow at 
Harrisonburg Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in 
Jonesville.

Dr. Boyd was born September 30, 1927 in Monroe, LA and passed away Monday 
February 2, 2009 at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday. She was a resident 
of Harrisonburg; An Educator, serving as Supervisor of Special Education of 
Catahoula Parish at retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist 
Church Harrisonburg, where she served as Sunday school teacher and organist 
for many years. Mrs. Gene was involved in many different organizations, 
including the Harrisonburg Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, United Daughters 
of the Confederacy, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in Death by her husband Judge R.P. Boyd, Jr., father and 
mother Jesse James Smith and Genie P. Smith a sister Mary Elizabeth Milstead, 
and a niece-Sally Clark

Survivors include a daughter Lauri Gene Boyd of Natchez, MS; son-James 
Richard "Bub" Boyd, Sr. and wife Chrisi of Jonesville, LA; grandson James 
Richard "Jay" Boyd, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughter Johanna Caroline 
Boyd of Jonesville, LA; nieces Mary Lee Moeler and Karen Rao; special care 
givers Betty Ewing, Faye Masters and Darlene Grantham.

The Pallbearers were Jared Mophett, Robby Swayze, Bill McHale, Bill Womack, 
Bill Crawford and George Evans.

The Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. Sam Dale, Dr. Billy Coney, Jay Boyd, Sam 
Boyd, Stevie Gibson, Dr. Joe Green, John Ed Bartmess, Carmen Walker, John 
Sturgeon, Richard Price, Jimmy Moeler and Tom Rao.

The family received friends at Young's Funeral Home, Jonesville, LA. from 5:30 
PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2009.
