BRINSON Our hero, Sam Brinson, Jr., a WWII veteran and former owner of Brinson Williams and Clarke AC and Refrigeration passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 with his family at his side. Funeral services with Military honors will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 29, 2016 in Feazel Chapel of First Baptist Church, West Monroe. Dr. Dwight Munn will officiate. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park in Monroe. Sam was born on December 28, 1926 in Monroe, LA to Sam, Sr and Maudie Monroe Brinson of Delhi. He was a longtime member and former deacon of First Baptist Church, West Monroe and a Sargent in the U. S. Army during WWII in the Philippines. Sam was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his son, Alan Brinson; his grandson, Christopher Ryan Collins; his parents; three sisters and 2 brothers. Sam is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joe Ann Whitlock Brinson; daughter, Terri Collins and husband Mike; two grandsons, John Micheal Collins and wife Stephanie, Matt Collins and wife Ainsley; great granddaughter and the apple of his eye, Camille Ann Collins; three sisters-in-law, Margie Whitlock, Helen Brinson, and Jeanette Brinson; many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mike Collins, John Michael Collins, Matt Collins, Jim Funderburk III, Jimmy Brinson, Scotty Brinson, Jeff Davis, and Jay Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be the ushers at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
