Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Peniel Baptist Church, West Monroe with Rev. Bobby White, Rev. Dale Mercer and Rev. Eddy Shoemaker officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. Betty was born May 8, 1947 in Pioneer, LA and passed away April 11, 2014 in West Monroe, LA. She was retired from Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corporation and shortly after her retirement, she was employed as the secretary for Peniel Baptist Church, where she was a long-time member. Betty touched the lives of all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She was referred to as the "Madea" of the family and will always be remembered for her natural ability to gather the family on a regular basis, just because that's what Mamaw and Papaw would have wanted. She was preceded in death by her parents, JY and Merline Holton; husband, David Brohan; three siblings, Charles Holton, Barbara Jean Holton and Paul Holton; and one grandchild, Wesley White. Betty is survived by her three children, Woodie Funderburk and wife, Monica of West Monroe, Paige White and husband, Bobby of Quitman, LA and Melanie Bottoms and husband, Danny of Fouke, AR; also by her remaining siblings and their spouses, JW Holton and wife, June of West Monroe, Ray Holton and wife, Mary of West Monroe, Helen Washington and husband, Joe of Monroe, Jimmy Holton and wife, Sherry of Calhoun, LA, MaryAnn Tucker and husband, Van of Farmerville, LA, and Sharon Kay Newman and husband, Larry of Winnsboro, LA; sister-in-law, Nancy Holton of West Monroe; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Pallbearers will be Timothy White, Ethan Bottoms, Christian Simon, Dennis Holton, Eric Holton and Ricky Eads. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jay Holton. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Peniel Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Scott Barron and his staff at Oncology Associates of Monroe, the entire staff at Louisiana Hospice and Palliative of Monroe and to Dr. Assad Mouhaffel, who was her doctor for many years, for all of the excellent care you all provided for Mrs. Brohan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to MD Anderson Cancer Center or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
