She was born January 4, 1919 in Winnsboro, Louisiana. She graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1935. Following graduation, she attended business school before becoming the bookkeeper at her family's business. Bonnie was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also was an accomplished artist and homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father V. Frank Lynn, her mother, Ollie Lynn, her sister Elmese Brice and her husband, Ernest Brookings, to whom she was married for more than 50 years. Survivors include her son, Frank Brookings and wife Jackie McGee Brookings of Blanchard; grandchildren Michael Brookings and wife Melinda of Waynesboro, VA; Virginia Brookings of Blanchard; and Diane Watson and husband Peter of Shreveport, LA. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Ellie and Sean. Graveside services will be held January 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lydia's Sewing Circle c/o First Baptist Church of Blanchard.
