JOHN Y. BROOKS
Colfax, Iowa

John Y. Brooks, Jr. passed away May 7, 2009 at the home of his step-daughter 
and husband, LeaAnne and Darrin Blom in Colfax, IA, after a long illness. 
Remains were cremated and graveside service will be June 9, 2009 at 10:00 am at 
Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, LA.

John was preceded in death by his father, John Y. Brooks, SR., his mother 
Evelyn Brooks Hancock.

He was a horticultist and past owner of Brooks Florist and Greenhouse.

John is survived by his wife Melba Wamble Smith Brooks, of Colfax, IA. Two 
sisters, Ruth Richers, Tulsa OK, Martha Edwards, Monroe, LA. Four children, 
Jennifer Purdy, Jodi Thompson, Jana Easterling, and John Perry Brooks all of 
West Monroe, LA. Three step-children, eighteen grandchildren and one great 
grandchild
