Brown Mulheaern Funeral Home Sterlington Road Monroe, LA. Services for Clyde R. Brown, prominent attorney of Monroe, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 1997 at Grace Episcopal Church with the Rev. Richard D. Cloud and the Rev. W. Bradley Trimble officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery under directions of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mr. Brown died Thursday, November 6, 1997 after a short illness. Mr. Brown graduated from Louisiana State University in 1923 and received his law degree from the institution. He was admitted to the bar in 1923 and was associated with the late Alden T. Shotwell in the practice of law in Monroe. He continued as Senior Partner in the law firm of Shotwell, Brown and Sperry until his retirement in 1986. He was a pioneer in the practice of Louisiana Oil and Gas Law. Mr. Brown was a member of the Fourth District, Louisiana and American Bar Association. He was also a member of the Louisiana Law Institute at the time of its organization, and a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe, having served on the vestry for many terms. Mr. Brown was a past president of the Monroe Kiwanis Club and was instrumental in the joint effort of that organization, together with the Rotary and Lions Clubs in establishing Kiroli Park. He was also active with the Monroe Community Chest and served as president of that organization. Mr. Brown was one of the founders of Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, where he was a charter member and also a director. Other club affiliations include the Lotus Club, the Boston Club of New Orleans and the City Club of Baton Rouge. He was one of the organizers of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Monroe, serving as its first president for many years and was chairman of its board of directors after relinquishing the position of president. Mr. Brown also was on the Executive Committee of Midcontinent Oil and Gas Association. Survivors include one son, Randolph Brown and one daughter , Ann Brown Westrom, both of Monroe; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be James Brown, Edel F. Blanks, Jr. and grandsons. Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe.
